In light of the approach of Hallowe’en, we thought we would create a Witches Broom pendant. This pendant was created in Stainless Steel.
We think a little
history on Witches brooms is warranted.
Besoms or Witches Brooms
have been associated with wiccan and pagan rituals since the middle ages. The
word "besom" is derived from the Old English "besma," which
means broom.
According to History.com,
Anthologist, Robin Skelton, suggests the association between witches and brooms
may have roots in a pagan fertility ritual, in which rural farmers would leap
and dance astride poles, pitchforks or brooms in the light of the full moon to encourage the growth of
their crops.
Ritually today, the
Besom or Witches Broom is used to purify or cleanse a space.
